Support your local independent bookshop: Order “A Girl Called Jack” from The Hive.

Just a very quick post to say – if you want to order my book, it’s currently £9.45 on The Hive, and will be delivered to a local independent book shop.

I’ll be going back through my blog over the next few days to change all of the book-order links to this one – so bear with me, but I think this is a great idea. Thanks to the many of my readers who sent me the link. 🙂

    • Indeed it is, but it seems ironic to support a company that treat their staff so badly and avoid paying tax, by buying a book such as this.

  1. This sounds really good – much better than using an online giant with questionable tax and employment practices. Unfortunately there is no independent bookshop in my city signed up to it, but I will be emailing them today to try and persuade them!

  2. I would normally have a cookbook on Kindle these days, but in Jack’s case I’ll make an exception and get the hard copy.

  3. Great to see you supporting the independent bookshop network particularly in view of this weeks revelations about Amazon as employers. Unfortunately the Hive network is a bit thin in North Wales. My nearest outlet is 20 miles away despite living in one of the largest towns, Llandudno.

  4. Hey, just thought I’d let you all know that I went into my local indie bookshop to ask them why they’re not signed up to The Hive & ended up with an offer of a sale for £9 in order to out-sell Amazon-apparently the man’s on a mission! Fantastic. Worth a try, eh! And just to say an ENORMOUS thank you for all your fab free recipes Jack-you are a complete star and I am a complete fan! I’m right there with you politically too, and find your blog an inspiration on a grey day. On a sunny day too! ;))

  5. Hmm it appears like your website ate my first comment (it was super long) so I guess I’ll just sum it up
what I had written and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog.
I too am an aspiring blog blogger but I’m still new to everything.
Do you have any tips and hints for beginner blog writers?
    I’d genuinely appreciate it.

  6. Yesterday I cancelled my Amazon pre-order and went to my local bookshop and ordered your book. As there are only three English language bookshops in the whole of Northern Cyprus, it could the first one ordered here. Jack, I read somewhere you come from a Cypriot family. Can I ask Greek or Turkish? Either way, it explains why the recipes work so well with local ingredients here though some ingredients I can’t get or are expensive.

  7. it’s a bit ironic asking the very people this book is aimed at to pay £3 more at The Hive.
